Carrie Waley

Carrie was born in Beijing and moved to Hong Kong when she was young, living there until the early 1990s.

Carrie started her career in Hong Kong in the hospitality, Public Relations and media sectors.  After moving to the UK, Carrie started her own Sino-British businesses in the late 1990s. Prior to her founding Mandarin Consulting in 2007, she worked as a China consultant for a number of Investment Banks in the City of London, involved in IPO projects for Chinese companies listing on the London Stock Market. Under Carrie’s leadership, Mandarin Consulting has become a cross-cultural career coaching industry leader and helped thousands of Chinese job seekers to realize their career goals internationally. Mandarin Consulting now has offices in the UK, the US and China, strategically covering all time zones to provide worldwide coaching assistance for Chinese candidates.

Carrie has wide-spread Sino-British business experience and has built up a vast network of international professionals. She is a popular and frequent guest speaker on cross-cultural issues to international and Chinese professionals. For 10 years, Carrie was a well-known columnist for Chinese newspapers, advising Chinese job seekers on job hunting issues. Carrie has also appeared on major TV and radio programs in the UK and US and is regularly invited to speak at business events on cross-cultural and career matters.

Carrie is fully conversant with both Chinese and Western culture.  She speaks and writes fluent Mandarin and Cantonese as well as English and is uniquely equipped to bridge the linguistic and cultural divide between China and the West.

Carrie’s public positions include being the Chairman of the Cathay Association for the Development of International Business; a founder committee member for the Chinese Business Association of the London Chamber of Commerce; a committee member of the Hong Kong Association; a Freeman of the City of London and a Founding Freeman of the Guild of Entrepreneurs.
