11.04.2025 Today’s Inspiration from Bank of America (B of A) Private Bank President Katy Knox, in LeadersMag.com
Dear Students,

Sometimes, the accolades simply speak for themselves:

  • Best Private Bank in the US and North America (NA) (2024) , as named by Global Finance, Family Wealth Report and Global Private Banker
  • Best Private Bank in NA for Family Offices, Philanthropy Services and Next Generation (2024) , as named by Professional Wealth Management
  • Best for Philanthropic Advisory and Best for Next Generation in the US and NA (2024) by Euromoney
…and so on

Katy Knox, President of B of A Private Bank, leads a team of 4,000+, across 100 offices in 42 US Markets, who cater to clients with $3M + to invest. Leveraging her 35 years of financial services experience (including 11 with B of A), Knox has made a name for herself in a very competitive market, while holding leadership roles across areas including not only Wealth Management but also Commercial Banking, Business Banking and Retail Banking. Since taking over as President in 2018, during a period of rebranding the division from US Trust to Bank of America Private Bank, Knox has also learned the ropes of Credit and Lending Services, Trust and Estate Planning, Philanthropy and Art Services.

“As President, Knox has modernized and grown The Private Bank by expanding into new markets, adding advisors and investing in technology, to better serve clients,” according to the BankofAmericaNewsroom site. Her team, which represented $674B in client balances and brought in $3.9B in revenue in 2024, is known for its focus on customer service, and she’s credited with expanding the bank into many formerly-untapped markets. While serving nearly 4,000 clients within the second largest US bank, the group Knox leads also established over 3,200 net new client relationships in 2024!

Knox, to little surprise, cites the combination of not only modernized technology, outstanding products and a personal commitment to talent development as fundamental to the bank’s success under her helm, yet she also references a team spirit she’s perpetuated among the group. In her own words, “Being on a team, you realize you can’t do it alone. Everybody has a really important role to play. You have to know when you need to step up, and when you need to back off, and how important every single role is on the team.”

For ambitious international students like you, who are becoming accustomed to Western notions of teamwork through both personal experience and coaching, these words ought to be thought-provoking. Indeed, it “takes a great team” to deliver distinguished service on behalf of those with a “great deal of wealth.” And really, what aspiring professional – including you – would not want to seek out the opportunity to both contribute to a great team and generate a great deal of wealth?

Wishing you a prosperous day, however you make that happen!

Best,

Amy-Louise
