You may have heard about the importance of something called self-reflection. You may have wondered what this term really means, why you should explore it, and how you may begin to do it.

One key is to acknowledge your emotions – even if they are negative – and to consider what you can learn from past and current experiences. While looking inward can be difficult or even painful, there is so much potential value to be gained in doing so. Through this process, you will start to recognize and process the aspects of your decisions that have and haven’t worked and plan for even more desirable future behaviors. This, in turn, will help you to increase your effectiveness in the workplace and your ability to assume leadership roles as you progress in your career.
